Yeah. I’m not looking forward to years of retraining to earn half the salary either. Us old timers at least got a good 15-20 years out of it. Bananas.

iPad is the happy path for parents I've found. Zero support calls, just the occasional "This is spam, right?" question.

We also hit scaling problems with temporal. Postgres doesn't scale at all four our workload, so you're into cassandra. For a medium sized deployment, you're looking at 200+ vcpus, and then lets say standard dev/uat/

If anyone is considering using a computer like this, I'd recommend OpenBSD for it which genuinely has one of the prettiest console fonts. It just ... Looks nicer.. Yes, I'm sure you can configure the others to look nice too but s

Yeah, I feel ya man. It’s a weird time to be in tech when it often times everything feels like the last years of our work are now instantly reproducible. I’m not sure i wanna stay on the ride much longer, at least in a corp setting. I guess

Nope, parents didn’t drink either; but you do you. Perhaps you’d be able to cope with life better if you weren’t so dependant on self medicating with harmful intoxicants and threatened by any statements against them.

So …. do I understand it right? openai, one of the hottest companies on the planet right now, with very deep pockets, distribute their official rust cli via the … public npm repo?

How come the official codex install instructions say use npm install? (I just rebuilt my sandbox vm a few days ago….) Or are there two separate codex clients? https://developers.openai.com/codex/cli

Another point is that while it can be more expensive than self hosting, the savings are dwarfed by the engineering costs. A decent infrastructure engineer working for 2 man months on your “money saving” ovh setup costs you more than you can
