Most people are relying on arbitrary testing to figure out how many people are infected. I think this totally under reporting number of infections because the whole population is not tested on a regular basis. To get an accurate picture of

The control loop reminds me of how you would create a game ie. get inputs, update states, based on the current state of the environment and inputs, render (write output). No wonder John Carmack got into rockets!

PDF doesn't encode something. PDF supports a few data formats. They call them "filters"; for example CCITT Fax, JBIG2, DCT, RLE, etc. Its up to the PDF creation program to pick the best data format for the image it would like

I was thinking the same thing. It should be something like dog bites per 1,000,000 residents or something like that. Then, the rankings would probably change.

It would be interesting if the author mentioned not just about 4k60, but also how do you get something like 10bpp color. I have a MBP and can watch YouTube videos in HDR on the laptop screen, but not through the hub I have.

In theory, this is a good idea, but doesn't protect you in all cases. I have had instances on a few of my application servers where an event happened that dumped GB's worth of log data to the log files in a matter of a couple of m

This was a poorly written article. Although it had numbers, there was nothing to compare it with. For example, the same time period in the previous year or to other big cites, etc.

I don't like how the author of the article said that PHP is an interpreted language and thus does not execute anything like Java is executed. I'm not saying PHP executes just like Java, but PHP is more like Java than he realizes.

At my work, i had to generate PDFs based on the outcome of a workflow. My first thought was to use xml, xsl-fo. I spent 100s of hours trying to get everything to work properly with Apache FOP (mostly a layout issue with the XML stylesheet.

Wine implements DX11. So that is not the issue why the company is dropping support for Linux and Mac.

The article makes it sound like they were running DX9 in Linux and MacOS. If true, how is this so? Is there some type of X11 extension that implements DX9 or something?

Is this library needed, if you are using PrinceXML?[1] Looks like a lot of the pagination and margin stuff is already supported by CSS 3 [1] https://www.princexml.com/
