That's a horribly outdated version linked in that video sadly, and that one no longer runs on recent macOS (because it's not notarized). Just in case anyone wants to try it, please grab latest build here instead : https:/&#x

Yep, there are two different 5K panels on iMacs, off the top of my head LG and Samsung, and the LG one does have slight transient burn in. It's not "true" burn-in (like CRTs or OLED) as it goes away after a bit but it's

I think the charitable answer is that bleeding edge process development is getting very hard and many exited/stumbled. IBM failed at 14nm too, and Intel which famously called itself 2 years in front of the rest of the industry for deca

Apparently AMD still had a Wafer Supply Agreement, last renegotiated in may, that may be a bit weird indeed... See here : https://www.hpcwire.com/2021/05/13/amd-and-globalfoundries-c... My understading is tha

That's a bit surprising (if not ironic) but I think it may make sense in a way. It's been pretty clear that Mudabala (an Abu Dhabi fund that bought AMD fabs in 2008 which then became GlobalFoundries) wanted to unload that investme

FYI, Apple does have two variants of the M1, with 7 or 8 GPU cores (those have a large area and are likely targets for defects) : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_M1 Defects in CPUs (not GPUs) for segmentation hasn&

Can't help but feeling it's a bit of a diversion to make everyone forget the just announced delays of their 10nm server chips. The original source, Nikkei, points to their own sources that claim that both Apple and Intel are curre

I've been using Safari 15 on macOS and iOS since they released the betas and while I could get used to, and enjoyed some of the changes, some I don't think I'll be able to live with. From good to bad : - The tab grouping feat

The initial setup is a bit of a pain (and the documentation is a bit lacking - though much better than most Apple documentation - particularly for edge cases like mine, distributing a screensaver), but to Apple's credit the process is

But only a tiny fraction of those work on CPU development, so it's not exactly a fair comparison. It's definitely not a numbers game. However, Intel has (used to have ? I haven't followed recently but I'd be surprised it

Sadly, this does not work for everything, as users can't always override the notarization requirement that was introduced in Catalina. I had the issue with Aerial, it's a screensaver which, technically, is a plugin and not an appl
