I'd love it if somebody did even an unofficial port of Day One or Taskpaper (that can read the same data as the official versions). Obviously not open source, but maybe a good opportunity for somebody.

Staying away from medication for a brain chemistry problem seems like self-sabotage to me. I'm not a fan of medication myself, but I'm about to go to the doctor to get a prescription. I'm in the same boat as you. Based on the

No, I'm suggesting that the ridiculous things we hear from Alaska (think about it's relative location to the US) are sort of like the ridiculous things we hear from Idaho (comparing it's relative location to the South).

As an Idaho resident, I'm very grateful that this was struck down. It's a terrible idea. Too bad Butch (governor) can't tell the difference between right and wrong when his corporate sponsors are involved (which is always).

Just stay in school. The terms aren't that great, and there will always be another startup. Getting your degree will facilitate finding other opportunities.

My strategy is to avoid taking notes unless absolutely necessary. In a meeting, just engage in the conversation. The only things you need to write down are the things you need to DO because of that meeting. I know this doesn't work ver

Yeah, we definitely won't be writing a web app in Go. We can just build it with Drupal and it'll be fine. Most of what we'd use Python or Go for are small services that handle one thing that run in their own container. https

PHP is horrible at long running processes, among other things. We regularly run out of file descriptors and memory usage is a big issue too. The "solution" is for the process to kill itself every couple minutes and restart with

As a freelancer, I can tell you that if you appropriately set expectations with your clients, you can answer emails whenever you want. Personally, I answer all of my emails at 11pm. Nobody else is awake and there's no danger of an imme

Too much info. Just say "laid off" unless someone specifically asks you for more information. Most people won't.

Just keep it in one app and do in-app purchases for different content packs. Much easier.

This is exactly what I did. Also of interest is that Yubikey OTP is directly supported, you can host static websites (I generate my site with Jekyll and then rsync it to fastmail's web server), and you can have a ton of other aliases f

osx, vim, alfred, git, and vagrant pretty much do it for me. Pretty much all of those things run well on Linux, though, so I'm considering switching.

You're the first person that I've ever heard of using a cloud dev environment for real work. Can you talk more about your experience and why/how you ended up with that solution?

I'm a big fan of Panera in pretty much any city (though I spent a lot of time in the Mountain View location at El Monte and El Camino Real when I lived nearby). They always have decent wifi, available power outlets, and they bring the

If you're just toying with Mac/iOS development and you're mostly a .NET dev, you should get a really beefy Windows box and run Mac OS in a VM. Spend your money where you spend most of your time. IMO, the Macbook Air is useles
