Couldn't you just ask for repos with > 5-10 stars instead of maintaining a list of popular C projects?

There's a ton of smaller tech companies here. Balihoo, Clearwater Analytics, FFW, Bodybuilding.com to name a few. I've lived here all of my professional life and haven't ever had a problem finding work (either local or remote

My point is, if you were paying the yearly fee before so that you can get upgrades, you were paying a subscription anyway . Yes, you could still use it if you didn't pay, but you paid. Why do you care?

I don't necessarily care about the actual resolution, but after moving to a high PPI display > 24", I certainly won't be going back. FWIW, I'm using an LG UM95 (Thunderbolt display better than Apple's). If I was

So don't. There are plenty of other tools out there that you can use. Did you previously pay the yearly fee to continue getting upgrades?

You do realize that they haven't really changed their pricing model, right? They just changed how it's presented. It's always been a subscription if you want new features in an IDE (which most people do). I pay like $100/

You don't have to use the UI. If you're really anal about your git history, you can do the merge locally and squash everything into one commit. IMO, it's not worth the effort to do that, though. You probably don't actual

This is probably not going to be a very popular reply, but I'll say it anyway on the off-chance it'll help you: get out of the Bay Area. You don't need to live in San Francisco to be a professional software engineer. I lived

It will change your life. Do it. Identify the problems you want to solve, and then go to a Psychiatrist. Don't go to some random doc in the box type place. You want somebody that really understands brain chemistry.

Why is GPG/PGP still a pain in the ass to use? Perhaps not for people reading on HN, but my grandma doesn't even know what "encryption" means, much less how to use it. If you want to increase it's reach, you have to

That's a valid way to look at things, but I take a different approach. I try to avoid easy projects as much as I can with my preferred tech, because it forces me to grow as a developer. I have a relatively diverse skillset which I can
