I’ll also chime in and confirm I get no ads with Firefox. My understanding is that uBlock Origin is weaker on Chrome so there’s no reason to use it if you’re serious about ad-blocking.

I use GitHub frequently and have never came across that issue; can't speak for the other sites though. If you're sure it's not the website's fault I'd encourage you to submit feedback: https://webcompat.c

I agree with some of what you said about social brownie points. Advertising can be really off putting (I'm very anti-advertisement but I'm not really their target audience since I mostly use Firefox these days). However, they have

Something has to change. Firefox is a GREAT browser. I think a lot of these things boil down to poor marketing. Things like these have to appear 'cool' and appeal to people. There has to be a reason for people to go out and active

I liked this post. A lot of the pros/cons resonated well with me. Going to save this for anytime some corporate person tries to "enlighten" me about the benefits of workers returning to the office.

They'll do anything to weaken user's ability to ensure their privacy and block ads it seems.

I’d love to side load my own apps for personal use. There’s a hundred use cases for my home in which our my side loaded apps would be very beneficial. I have a few network restricted websites set up for me and my partner but an app would be

Ah yes. I can't wait for no single player DLC and 10 years of GTA 6 online.

The upgrades these days are so minor or barely noticeable I can’t think of any reason why I’d upgrade. The only thing may be artery life or camera but that’s it.

I’m getting Baldur’s Gate 3 as a gift for Christmas this year and I’m looking forward to trying it.

Absolutely this. The overwhelming need to be “productive” has been wearing on me a while. Gaming is a great stress reliever and I make sure to make some time for it everyday. I mainly like single player games for my PS5 such as Horizon, Cyb

Pretty much. This is likely more of a tactical regrouping.

I want to write my own SSG and probably will soon. My current site is built using Gatsby and oh boy it’s a lot more complicated than it really should be.

And who’s stop an extension taking that stream and then filtering out the ads from that stream? More difficult but someone will implement it if YT takes that route.

This is precisely why I will never use one of these services. The thought of a company being able to buy my DNA is beyond creepy.

MS just comes off desperate with their tricks trying to con users into using Edge. Then again, Chrome is no better with their attempts to dominate the web and force their own standards on other browsers to make ads harder to dodge. Aside fr

I’ve never thought the changing admin interface was ugly. A bit simple compared to others but sleek and pretty usable. No odd surprises.

The only word that best describes this is “dystopian”. I’m sure some middle managers will love this but I’d run a mile if this was ever forced on me.

And yet you developed the functionality to enable them to manage in an aggressive manor. Doesn’t make you come off any better.

Your OS is meant to be neutral ground. Injecting ads into Windows is just unwelcome. I use macOS and if Apple ever did something similar I’d be jumping ship.

I had never considered that older might die purely because doctors may not see the need to dig in and diagnose them purely because they’re “old” and would “likely die soon anyway”. The older you get, the less medical intervention. With how

This is my normal CI/CD workflow -- even for GitLab. Debugging why CI/CD doesn't work is one of the worst headaches you can imagine.

Pretty much. I’m not sure if it got included but if it was feasibly possible they absolutely would — which is just as bad in my opinion. Lack of capability does not nullify intent.

Now this is a headline I didn't want to see pass. I wonder if Apple will do what they said and pull iMessage and FaceTime. Same with Meta and WhatsApp.

Can confirm as a UK citizen. Laws are seeminly never really enforced from what I've noticed.

I love their stance on adblockers and privacy. It's exactly how I feel and I refuse to have them in my home or on my devices. I also love how they go the extra mile to show people how to implement common adblocking techniques.

Apologies, I totally missed the sarcasm. And I get what you mea. Personally sick of companies forcing things on users for the sake of profit.

Your argument doesn’t hold at all. The functionality is already there, so ask yourself, why are they depriving people outside of the EU this functionality when it’s already there?
