The thing is that this is inevitable with capitalism. Money will always end up influencing government power, leading to a plutocracy who make their money through anti-competitive rent-seeking behavior instead of innovation. That's prec

I would be quite surprised if this doesn't turn into a depression. The Fed has essentially already exhausted their options, and we're only a week in to this. Fiscal policy is the only real policy remedy, and capitalists hate that.

This behavior is being systematically reinforced more and more with every recession. Is there anyone outside of the mainstream of the two US parties who thinks that modern capitalism is desirable or sustainable?

Farming subsidies for food systematically cause overproduction. This is problematic environmentally for land use and climate. It also accelerates soil depletion and salinification.

It actually may drop around Greenland and Antarctica, as well. The reduced mass of ice causes the water level to drop despite the overall sea level rise. This of course means higher rises elsewhere. Surprisingly, this didn't occur to a

Sanders is actually proposing reforms that would actually reign in the financial sector, but that ship has sailed. There is no comparison between him and Trump or Biden.

It'll be the same thing after 2008. Some piddling reforms that do nothing to solve the enormous political and economic threat that our bloated financial system poses.

The specificity (true positive) and sensitivity (true negative) do not solve the problem I am describing. If something is rare, it has a low base rate. That even means a test with excellent specificity and sensitivity could still be wrong

One fallacy that seems universal with healthcare folks is they think the false positive rate is the chance that a given positive result is erroneous. If an illness is rare, a positive result in a test with a 1% error rate might have an over

It's common practice to hold even low level offenders for a year or more to extract a confession. NYC has been particularly infamous for this.

You really are pretty mistaken on the music (I'm 35). I'm guessing you are just exposed to bad pop acts like Mylie Cyrus. Keep in mind that most popular music in the 1960's and 1970's sucked too. For every Beatles there
