That COBOL is predominantly used in Big Biz? I think you proved his point. It'd be selection bias if he made the assumption that most big businesses were using Ruby. That's not the point he was making -- what he said was that lo

I'm still missing the majority of my apps. 395120080593788 is one, I believe. That one was just a facebook page tab so I only have links to it. From the looks of it, the only apps that returned were ones with multiple administrators.

It's a hassle. I took a full stack of nootropics daily (a larger stack than what's described here, close to 20 pills / day) for about a year and ultimately just decided it was too much hassle. There are benefits, but lazine

Working at a single place for 10 years and having 0 connections to other companies is not going to put you in a good place to find a job. I imagine they would struggle to find a job regardless of whether or not they quit.

I think it's a sign that I've been programming (predominantly in ruby) too long when I didn't think twice about why 1 && 2 == 2.

Nothing like a bunch of comments tearing apart a website built by people who, presumably, learned to code a few months ago and threw it together over the course of a few weeks. Yeah, it has a few issues, but it's significantly better

I'm sad that this comment was posted on a weekend, because I think this is one of the awesomest things I've seen on HN, and not a lot of people are reading HN on Saturday nights and they're going to miss it.

That's why I recommended including how much money the company has raised. Companies with lots of money also have a lot of employees, hence skewing 'market rate' up to something significantly higher than you'll get from any < 10m raised

The equity isn't nearly as relevant as how much money the company is raised. It should be no shock to anyone that a job at Google / Facebook / etc. is going to pay significantly more than the equivalent job at a company with a year of runw

Do it on google docs, and include how much money your company has raised (0-5m, 5-15m, 15m+ is probably sufficient options) and roughly how much equity you have. In a vacuum, this number is meaningless. Comparing what someone makes at Goo
