Thanks for this! As a developer who has been slowly learning design by trial and error, I wish I had access to this resource years ago. It's totally frustrating when you know something just looks awful, but don't have the knowledge or bac

I used various versions of Django when I first started hacking on Appengine. Eventually I just gave up and switched to Tornado. Why? Django is a large and tightly coupled beast of a framework. It's very likely that a given plugin reaches

I wrote a simple plugin for Sublime Text that opens the GitHub app and it's been working quite well as a replacement for Textmate & Git bundle. There's been a few rare times where I've had to drop back to command line because of crashes

Do they really need Labs now? Google has grown to a size where they can easily acquire promising young start-ups out in the wild. One advantage of having Labs back in the day was that projects could have the backing of Google's infrastruct

Note to people rushing out to try the new version: the development server doesn't work with it yet. You can only deploy to production at the moment. Some very cool features with this upcoming release: - Cross entity-group transactions - Bu

I think one reason why the search product didn't gain traction was because it interfered horribly with the original goal of Foxmarks -- a service to sync bookmarks. Speaking as a former user of Fox/XMarks, I saw the product go from a simple

I don't think SVG is particularly suited to animation, as it would require manipulating multiple DOM elements. This tends to be quite slow compared to redrawing the canvas.

I see a few advantages: 1. Requires much less modification to existing code than a callback style. 2. Code written in the sequential style is shorter, easier to understand, and just as explicit. Edit, also from his article: """By decorating

Personally, I like bug fix releases. It shows that the project is quite mature when there are fixes for several different platforms. Disclaimer: I currently don't use Node.js but I cannot wait to try it out. If there's any node devs here,
