The best media center application I've found for streaming is Plex ( http://www.plexapp.com/ ).

My setup probably isn't as energy efficient, but I am proud of the fact that I can control my 'dumb' TV with my phone: http://csmatt.com/notes/?p=32 (also contains comments on different media center appl

I work for a software development company and one of the new hires had never even heard of Office Space. I think it brings our entire vetting process into question.

If there's not something out there to use an Android/iOS tablet in place of a wacom, there should be!

Interesting, it looks like you made this for the iPhone and iPad and got very little love (no comments and only a few points) when posting as Show HNs. What do you make of that?

Why wouldn't you give this value? I'm tired of drawing things on napkins and welcome this app.

This reminds me of a Ted Talk I saw a while back that really stuck with me. The guy's brother was diagnosed with something and he created a site for others to post and track their treatments and also review others' treatments and

This is pretty neat. I didn't know the new Arduino would have WiFi and bundling with that service (Temboo) makes it look like it shouldn't take much to get a lot of common things working. It's a nice step in Arduino's ev

Looks more like a feature to me! haha I had to do a report on an influential woman when I was in middle school and chose Grace Hopper. I've always been quite happy with that choice.

"The House I Live In" was an eye opener for me. Also, one of the directors, David Simon, is the creator of the HBO show 'The Wire' which dealt heavily with the side effects of the war on drugs. 'The Wire' is th

This is very well articulated and at least partly rings true for me. However, after typing out a response of the nature you described, I hit the back button rather than submit.

That would be terrible. It's one thing to name as fleeting as a treadmill after someone like Colbert, but I cringe at the thought of future science teachers in 2025 having to explain how an element is named after an entertainer they&#x

I got the front & back xtremeguards for mine and have no problem with it slipping. They're not perfect and there may be a better manufacturer, but I didn't want to add bulk to the phone and they were running their 80% off spec

One of the judges at Startup Weekend crapped on every team. The weekend had been a lot of fun, but that ruined it for me. Other judges at least had constructive criticism. I have to admit this pulled the steam out of my sails and I'm n

I run CM too. I killed my G+ account when I found it difficult to change my privacy settings. Not being able to rate apps pissed me off.

I hate this so much. The interviewer must realize how strange this is when he/she has to brush up on questions they're about to ask a candidate for a similar position to their own.

Yeah, the bird_name doors aren't jiving with me. They do appear to be more practical given the constraints of the vehicle, though. With a conventional door, the swing would be quite wide for the rear doors. The rear of the vehicle isn&
