From a pragmatist standpoint, something like google can't trust an RDF document any more than it can trust the META keywords tag. Anything a site can assert about itself will end up as fodder for spam and manipulation. Not to say that indi

I looked into RDF pretty heavily a few years ago. The biggest takeaway is that it was naive in its level of trust. If I make a new RDF document in a repo, claim it was written by Shakespeare, and then somebody does the search on "Complete

Please be aware that this is blatantly false. The bank can only loan out less than the amount they have on hand (after subtracting the reserve percentage). What happens is that you loan the money, it gets spent, and ends up in your deposit

The load was for election night, which is more than likely a full order of magnitude, or two above their normal traffic levels. So their normal setup of RoR is fine for normal amounts of load, but would fail under that expected spike. So

Core disconnect: what is source controls role: is it a journal of all history, or is it a tool to find code. I fall on the tool side, which means I rebase & amend and keep history semantically organized, and such. All that makes it eas

I agree, it'd be a very hard political decision. But the hurf-durf about us being beyond-broke is overblown, at least currently. I do however agree that the trajectory we are on is going to screw us.

As of July 28, 2010, the "Total Public Debt Outstanding" was approximately 93% of annual GDP. -- Wikipedia It'd suck, but we could pay that off in 20 years if we cut the budget to something maintainable. Not optimal, but nowhere near your

How does google know where MAC addresses are? I thought that they were non-routable, so they are limited to the extremely local connection. Presumably the range from your computer to the termination of the cable modem on the other end.

While I agree that it should be allowed to tape any interactions you have with an officer, it's a bit of a gray area if you follow one around taping everything they do. First: they are off duty sometimes (they get breaks too) Second: They a

Sorry about being down, it's all back up now The great thing about widgets is that they act as OO Classes on top of a DOM object. So you can say 'make this DOM object act like an XYZ'. Sometimes the XYZ is a very visible thing (checkbox,

We've been working on some heavy-duty javascript projects for some of our recent clients, and docs are fairly weak on writing your own custom jQuery UI widgets, so I wrote this up.
