Clearly it would be illegal. I was thinking about this as an extension of the market for day 0 exploits. Say you have found a new exploit. According to articles like this, you would typically sell it to some government spy agency, or even

It would be hard for a "retail investor" like myself, but 30 seconds is a lifetime to the high frequency guys. I'm sure there is a pretty big group of people who would have no trouble doing it.

This would seem to be a new way to monetize hacks. Go short on the market, trigger your fake tweet, wait a few seconds for the flash crash, and cover your short. You could make huge profits this way. I wonder if someone did in this case.

I think he was trying to say he wouldn't have bought a $40 poster without some charitable tie in. I imagine it wasn't the only worthy cause that would have swayed him. That said, Watsi is popping up a lot with the "cool kids" lately. Che

They were excellent. The Code Prize does feel very nice in the hand. It feels solid, and the inner parts don't move at all as you'd expect looking at it. The Gyroid is remarkably small and delicate, and my son (the gamer) liked the Mario M

Shapeways has a whole library of items that other people have designed that you can print. I ordered several as stocking stuffers at Christmas. Holding them in your hand is a good way to get what this whole 3D printing thing is about. The

So do either fastr or renjin allow the use of R packages that use C or Fortran code? So much of the value of R is locked in packages. It is kind of the same issue as PyPy, only more so with R.

The Make Ultimate Guide to 3D Printing is a pretty good resource for "what you need to know", if you want more information on this subject. http://www.amazon.com/Make-Ultimate-Guide-3D-Printing/dp/144...

You can benefit from the lock in. Amazon pays a fortune on my shipping for Amazon Prime. I ordered about 90 times last year, and got 2 day shipping on all of them. It replaces going to the store for many things, so more important to me is t

I'd say that R is awesome, and that R is a fairly annoying language, all at the same time. (I'll go back to writing some R code now.)

R is horrifically slow on loops. If you can vectorize the operation, then it will be reasonably fast. If you have to use an explicit loop, then python will be faster. My previous company had a saying that "R is fast if your write it in C".

Are other readers more secure? Which would you recommend? I'm sure Adobe Reader gets more attention from the bad guys, because of market share. Is Apple's Preview any better (that's what I usually use)?

I used Amazon Mechanical Turk to run a multiple choice survey. That got me several hundred opinions in a day or so. (Make sure you have the domain reserved first, just in case.) It is fairly easy, even if you haven't done it before.
