Thanks for the feedback. I'm giving the first demo of Predictobot on July 28th at PyData Boston, so the "live" site should be up around then. It has nice demos. Glad you like the logo. It is by the most excellent Ty Wilkins

I've had "lifestyle business" used as an insult to what I'm building, Predictobot.com. It was from a guy who takes lots of VC money, builds big startups with a direct sales force, and then eventually sells them to Oracle

As a very simple example of that, you use variables that behave like mathematical unknowns. When I run the following line of Mma code, x, y, and z are undefined. It finds values for these unknowns. That's kind of different than many

If R is a programming language that knows how to do statistics, then Mathematica would be a programming language that knows how to do math. It has built in support for just about every kind of math I've ever needed. It is very good a

This really does make me feel old. I started using Mathematica 1.1 in my freshman year in college, 24 years ago. I still use it fairly frequently today. I didn't realize I was an early adopter :-).

That's funny. I just looked back at my old email, and I used this very quickselect.c implemention back in April 2008. It worked well and was wicked fast. The algorithm by Blum, Floyd, Pratt, Rivest, and Tarjan takes 24n comparisons in the
