I'm pretty sure that if you asked your developers point blank if they'd like a nice office with a door, they would. If you asked any developer who has actually had an office at a previous job, and I'm 100% sure they'd

I got into dubstep for the same reason. In a quiet office, I like listening to classical. But you can't use something with quiet parts for distraction. So now I listen to EDM, with a more consistent volume level. It gives me something

Thanks for the constructive criticism. I'll try to tone it down a bit in the real site. I just did the teaser site quite quickly to collect emails, before a conference I was talking at.

I appreciate what you're trying to say. People hire someone based on something shiny they see on Dribble, and they get something shallow and shiny as a result. However, in my case, there was actually a lot more thought about the feel I

It was a good process. My designer was quick, responsive, fairly priced, and came up with what I think is a great logo. I'm very happy with it, and I consistently get positive feedback ('cool robot'). What do you think: ht

I hired my logo designer off of Dribbble, with excellent results. It probably is less of a problem for logo design, than for something like UX or UI.

This is one of those puzzles that just begs you to use Mathematica: In[20]:= Select[Map[FromDigits, Partition[RealDigits[N[E, 500], 10][[1]], 10, 1]], PrimeQ][[1]] Out[20]= 7427466391

Right, that was a font designed by a programmer. This is a font designed by a professional type designer. (Proxima Nova is quite famous.)

So sad. So instead of hiring anyone, the CEO did it herself (with some internal designers). The $0 logo. Not too surprising it won't do much in terms of rebranding.

Traditional (i.e. Paul Rand era) logo design was trying to distill a company down to a minimal essence. Having bevels leaves in a decorative element that makes in non-minimal. That it should look good in 1 color is fundamental to tradition

It has 3d bevels, if you look closely. That makes it look a bit dated, although just being flat to be trendy wouldn't be good either.

It is a better shade of purple. The bevel is kind of gross, and I'm just left a bit disappointed. A missed opportunity to do something great.

I was thinking that Yahoo should hire Jessica Hische for the redesign. I think they'll go with a typographic logo, and who could be better? She could do a great script Yahoo.

I think Paul Rand would turn in his grave at the thought of "Thinking of a new logo? Don’t guess; test." There is a lot more to logo design than having a first impression test well. I really do hope they hired someone good to do t

Remember that factoring primes isn't know to be NP Hard. There is no complexity breakthrough required, we just don't know how to do it quickly. So we don't get P=NP from any factoring breakthrough.

That's not their real new logo. They are doing "30 days of change", where they use a different logo each day, leading up to the real on one on Sept 5. The OP is the day 24 logo. http://www.yahoo.com/dailyl

Unrelated to the OP, but I thought "Oh like Olin College." It was an engineering college founded in 1997 that had free tuition until recently. (It still is half price.) It attracts the best and brightest. Great school.

As others have said, I think most developers would take a nice, quiet office. Given the horrible open plan office I currently work in, you need some way to drown out other people "collaborating", so headphones it is. Sometimes I

For me going from a D700 to an OM-D, the biggest benefit was the much smaller size. And much of that size was in the lenses, not the bodies. The m4/3 lenses are so wonderfully small, after hauling around a 24-70/2.8 for so long.
