Good point. I was admitted to the University of Michigan in engineering, where I majored in chemical engineering, despite having never done any chemical engineering in my life. That applies to most engineering. How many students in mechanical, aerospace, etc. had done any of it in high school? Why would CS be different? (Now, of course, I program extensively. I picked that up on my own.)
