This would be very cool, I love these kind of videos. Perhaps you can find the right format as you building up your channel. There are lots of Youtubers shaping their channels over time to improve, imho the most important part is to start a

Well assembly or plain machine code would be the better alternative, but due the lack of time I prefer C.

Maybe due alignment, on ARM unaligned dereference would crash if I remember correctly. So it's safe to copy the value first and use that aligned memory for the comparison.

You may look up the already mentioned Robotron, or Messelektronik. Further Zentrallaboratorium für Rundfunk- und Fernsehempfangstechnik (ZRF). The history of Manfred von Ardenne is interesting as well (first electronic television 1931, but

In terms of quickly making money this is true. But here I'd like to think about likely world changing tech. As long as the (successful) execution comes one day, it doesn't matter if it happens 20 years ago or 10 years from now.

On one side the Xanadu implementations over the decades are a complete failure. On the other side, imho some of the ideas will survive and one day make it into successful software projects. Good ideas aren't destroyed by poor excecutio

Up until rencently I didn't like gdb much, but this was mainly for one thing I got wrong all the time: Make a code change, recompile, restart gdb and start again debugging. Then I learned: you never need to stop gdb! Just enter "

Thank you, that's a very interesting topic. I watched lots of videos and material about computer interfaces of the early days to present. It feels a bit like the magic and larger innovations stopped at some point in the 80/90'

From my understanding the precomposed ones don't exist for every character, for latin scripts this might be true but other scripts are more complex. Simple example is emojies where there isn't a precomposed codepoint for all combi

These are valid points, I'm currently going through the dance of building a custom cross platform gui for mobilde+desktop tailored to my application. Proper localized text rendering is hard, Harfbuzz and Freetype are solid options to

And this is a huge problem we as people, including myself, don't shape the world we could have. We have the power to not support evil and we don't use it (enough).

In a world seemingly going down hill, SerenityOS brings back positive thinking for me. Time doesn't matter so much and the projects speed is already most impressive. I'm planning to port some of my software in the home automation

Yes the instruction sets were simpler, but the developers at the time had invented a lot of clever solutions to solve hard problems. I think the most innovative timespan was between 1950–1997'ish, and hope we get back to get the most o

I love these videos, it's the kind of no BS programming to press performance on modern computers. Also recommend the Handmade Hero series of him. We have computers which are ridiculous fast, but tend to write code which is freaking slo

Personally I donate to XState library and GIMP development, sometimes to Wikipedia. Made a suggestion to the company I work at, to sponsor OSS projects we use: currently $ 1600 per month, mostly via GitHub sponsors.
