Github is more than a remote host for git repositories. It's become one of the major CDNs for software distributions. Github Pages host a majority of static sites that developer use. You won't be able to use Cargo, Nix, Scoop and

There goes Pages, there goes the CDN for release artifacts, there goes any package manager hosting repositories on GitHub. Is this outage just contained to github or is it an Azure outage?

Ah, yes, consistent spying on workers to make managers feel better. How about you feed each frame to an LLM for AI powered productivity monitoring? How about you incorporate web cam for next gen AR AI companionship? How about you make it cu

I work in a large code base with 1800+ crate dependencies (don't ask) with half of them being unstable crates not really published to crates.io. And yeah, we run into this issue a lot. The recent one was caused[0] by human error. It&#x

My understanding is that most of the new generation of GUI frameworks/application runtime are targeting all platforms. And there's clearly a demand for such feature set if the popularity of Electron says anything. Software busines

I'm very interested in seeing if using the commonly implemented forms of compiler support for async programming can also be well used for GUI programming. One wishawa[0] is also perusing this approach in Rust but I first came upon this

Most of the world only got online and owned personal computers for the first time in the past decade through the meteoric spread of smartphones. Twitter was just there when they arrived and I suppose it was good enough. Twitter was also a f

It's incredible just how comically bad the saga of Musk's acquisition of Twitter and his general fall from public grace has turned out. You really can't come up with this shit. Next thing you know, he's going to walk int

Nostr's very cool tech and I'm excited to see where it ends up. But I'm not sure it'll make for good social networks/apps that I'll care about. ActivityPub and Matrix get flak on the account portability issue a

Good approach. And with Postgres `DOMAIN` types features to DRY up the `CHECK` the live constraint, this should be very palatable. I usually opt for enum tables and regularly find myself needing to declare `archived_at` columns for said tab

Sideberry is fantastic. Not only is it a great replacement for Tree Tabs, I've also found it to be a better alternative of Simple Tab Groups. With `userChrome` entries to auto-hide Sideberry and the native FF tabs, it's improved t
