Well that just makes me sound like a psychopath. Oh, wait, my original post did that. Carry on.

Off-topic: I would like to find the person that made the decision to implement that POS "mobile friendly" theme and beat them to death with a shovel. These themes are crap on both my iPad and my Touchpad running Android.

Makers could disable texting if the phone is moving > 5 mph. Easily defeated and annoying, yes, but marginally less stupid than trying to legislate a change in behavior.

Posts like this are little snapshots of a programmer's development during which he really thinks he has this shit figured out.

Yup, intentional stalls give plenty of warning in a trainer. It's the stalls caused by uncoordinated flight during a steep bank or snap spins caused by exceeding critical angle of attack, regardless of speed, that will kill you. The first

There was a thread on here recently about this: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=3144099 I think my comment on the subject is near the top: to summarize, it's not as dramatic as all that. :)

Our bodies are horrible when it comes to spatial awareness. Pilots are trained to ignore sensory input like the feel of gravity, the feel of being in a dive/climb/bank and use the instruments to make determinations about what the aircraft i

They still put on a good show, no doubt. You don't walk out disappointed in their ability to entertain. What I'm saying is that from a musicianship perspective they're a disaster in a live setting. Lars can't maintain a steady tempo and i

lucasjung has done such a fantastic job of debunking this idea that they's very little to add; however one aspect that hasn't been expanded upon is the glacially slow pace at which the FAA approves systems for use. Approved aviation systems

I'd like to see an infographic on how badly Lars' ability to maintain tempo live has degraded over time. I love their pre-Black studio work and LSB&P, but live it's just tough to listen to them bludgeon their songs to death at 110-200B

This isn't the right question to be asking. There are certainly cases where one language at another for a given task, e.g. Ruby is better for string parsing than PHP. But in many (most?) scenarios the technique used for the job matters

I can play a few Megadeth riffs and I've written two very shitty songs. This does not make me a musician or a songwriter. It makes me a dude who can create noises that resemble music. The OP groks the basics and has learned how to use Dja

All it takes is little planning ahead. For example, our business requires that I travel all over the US and I use a debit card exclusively. Never have a problem with the airlines, hotels, or renting cars, but that's because we've taken the

No, credit cards exist because in 1978 the Supreme Court released an opinion allowing banks to export interest rates from one state to the other. So a bank in a state with a 25% interest rate cap could lend to a family in another state wit

You're not acknowledging some of the political realities of the work place that make such silliness necessary. At my last job the IT guy, who had at some point been frightened by soap and had since managed to evade it in every form, would c

It feels like that, doesn't it. I had the same thought going through the clunky process to try to make this happen. WebOS is a hell of a platform; it's a damn shame it's probably going to die on the vine.

Right. Read that. But where in the HP online store is there a "buy now" button? I can buy all kinds of accessories, but no touchpad. Remember, I'm dumb. I mean, I write PHP, fergawdsakes. I'm going to have to be led by the hand here.
