Chances are, when I buy the $200 IKEA chair, I have no idea about the chairs that inspired it. I buy it because I like it and can afford it. It doesn't particularly bother me that there is a nicer version of it out there for more mon

Some would be hard for them to make at a reasonable price today and they wouldn't sell in big numbers at a higher price. Adam Savage recently posted a video about his favorite IKEA cabinet: https://www.youtube.com/watch

It depends too on what you value. I’d be more than happy to pay a premium if it meant the time for me looking for a flight and having a seat booked is drastically reduced. We used to get that through the services of a travel agency. Maybe w

Do you have to trust it? Have the AI built a list of all the invoices it can find in your email then a separate application reconciles that against your statements. The AI might miss something or invent something, but the mismatch list you

Surely a display of similar specs made today would draw a fraction of the power the similar panel from 1983 did, no?

The display worked better 40 years ago. They lose contrast and responsiveness with age. My favorite calculator is an HP-28s and it too has become slow and hard to see.

A low-res display would be fine. In fact the same display as the original Model 100 would be great. A sibling mentioned e-ink and that might be ideal. With a fast enough CPU and race-to-sleep scheduling, the machine would mostly be in a low

Maybe you can answer this then. Back in the early 80’s, Radio Shack made the TRS-80 Model 100 laptop. It ran for 20+ hours on 4 AA batteries. A few years later, Psion came out with a series of small devices that ran on 2 AA batteries and go
