Does anyone have any recommendations for what to plug into to munge images? ImageMagick ( http://www.imagemagick.org/ ) has worked well for us. There are bindings out there for many languages, including Common Lisp ( http://common-lisp.ne

If you keep generating random series of tones, eventually you will end up with Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here or any other piece ever recorded.

Is this really surprising? Blackberry has been an established market leader in this domain for years. Apple claiming the #2 spot with a single product in a 2-3 year time frame is pretty amazing, I think.

I've been very happy with my Markus chair so far. I would also recommend the Mikael desk ( http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40079218 ) and drawer unit if you're looking for something cheap, simple, and functional.

I think what he's trying to say is that it's best to concentrate on that which brings in the money rather than on the money itself. The latter should follow from the former.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that user momentum is what differentiated Facebook from the countless other social sites that were sprouting up back then. Not anything inherent to the site. Consumer lock-in has only taken hold now that mo

You could've said the same about Facebook a couple of years ago. What bit.ly has is momentum, especially among twitter users.

Both of the OP's examples are verb uses of "queue". I believe the question here is whether to use active or passive voice. IMO the passive construction ("has been queued") sounds more natural, because you wouldn't normally think of an inani

This kind of practice really irks me. I'm not sure what information these companies are going after, but what they're actually getting is "people who read lots of brain teaser books". Somehow I doubt that's what they're looking for.

This title is complete linkbait. According to the article, they found an unidentified chip in the new iPod shuffle earbud control, and have no clue what it does.

I'm not offended by the fact that he went on a long vacation, or even that he wrote an article about it. What bugs me is that somehow it's front-page news. This article has zero content.

I think you've missed the point. The real utility of coding to pass a test is not to verify the current state of the application. You can easily cross check that you're getting the right return values from any module manually. The real be

Cool idea. One suggestion I would give is to remove the screenshot grabbing process from the post/response cycle and make it asynchronous. Maybe with some kind of ajax landing page that periodically checks for the screenshot's status and th

The proper use of "begs the question" is as the name of a logical fallacy where the conclusion of an argument appears as one of its premises. Kinda like a circular argument. It's rarely used this way outside of philosophy and logic context

The WebKit team is fantastic. Their code is clean, well-organized, fast, and their output prolific—every morning when I do update, there are at least 50 individual commits. They also beat all of the big-name players to Acid 3 compliance.

Ah, yes, that's right. It's easy to forget that not everyone is a developer. Cyberduck ( http://cyberduck.ch/ ) is also a good sftp/s3 client for OS X.

OS X does support sftp out of the box. Also, it can act as an sftp host if you enable Remote Login (ssh).
