I've tried the IntelliJ vim plugin and it was lacking some features that I use regularly (I forget exactly what at the moment. Registers? the 'q:' menu? folds? quite a few plugins I now can't live without? (surround)). A

You can also use M-? to list all the files. So typing 'rm foo * ' and pressing Alt-? (on non-OSX computers) will give you a list of what your wildcard would expand to. M- * does the same thing but actually expands the wildcards,
