That's a bold statement. I use Google maps on my iPhone. What's the problem? I'd say Apple Maps did its job well... It got Google to release Google Maps FOR iOS.

Decompression has nothing to do with tar, though. But I agree, it is painful to deal with tar+gz.

You can build random access around tarballs, just need to index the header data. Shameless plug, this is what https://github.com/cpuguy83/tarfs does. Granted, you do have to traverse the entire tarball.

I retract the statement that I don't see the advantage. See https://twitter.com/rauchg/status/991850924057350144 for why. Basically run `mount` in a gvisor container and run `mount` in a runc container and se

Also potentially have to deal with differences in how the syscalls are implemented from the Linux kernel.

This implements system calls in user space, intercepting those calls via ptrace (though there is a KVM backend as well). Honestly I don't see an advantage to this over a stricter seccomp policy, and most definitely slower.

Bacteria is alive, cooking it kills it. Gluten is not alive. Perhaps cooking at a very high heat and charing it maybe could break it down enough? Cleaning, very well, works for some things... But Teflon, anodized aluminum, etc are all quite

Eating out is hard. Where we are it's pretty difficult simply because most people here don't know about celiac at all. There are apps similar to Yelp to help... "Find Me Gluten Free", "Allergy Eats" to name a c

Gluten free does not mean carb free or even carb reduced. What it does tend to mean is less processed food and more whole foods.

These options are part of the Docker API and the underlying engine implements it as needed. On Linux hosts there is nothing to tweak as bind mounts offer full consistency without compromising performance. In Docker for Mac it tweaks the con

To add to that, celiac can be so bad that even the smallest cross contamination can be devastating. Think about it like this: You cut some raw chicken on a cutting board, then wipe(not wash) the cutting board and reuse it with something els

Yes you can, that's the purpose of the mirror. To do this you set the "--registry-mirror" option on the daemon. The RH fork doesn't let you do mirrors, it let's you change the default registry, this is very differen

You can setup mirrors for dockerhub... Or any docker registry. You also can require image signing such that if an image is signed by an untrusted party it will fail.

That has not been accepted into the kernel. It's called "shiftfs", which basically let's you perform the uid/gid shift on mount.

There are trade-offs to using userns and many ppl don't like the current set of trade-offs. In addition changing a default like this is a breaking change. Admins can enable userns by default in a daemon, but making it a hard-coded defa

This is an overly simplified view of the differences between Docker networking and Kunernetes networking. The main difference is that Kunernetes assumes that all IP's are routable and Docker does not. When using bridge networking this

Right, it's not a btrfs problem other than btrfs is moving too quickly and RHEL's kernel stands still (by design).
806.
▲
by

Because RHEL kernels are very old and the maintenance burden of backporting btrfs changes is too great (and fragile).

1. You can use host-mode port binding (equivalent of `docker run -p` as opposed to the routing mesh), you could also use macvlan/ipvlan to do this. 2. Indeed this is tricky right now. One way to sort-of fake it is you can do something

These blobs are already shared. (In Docker) Since each layer is only the diff from the layer before it, the content address is only from the change set. Technically you can share blobs even between an image that is `FROM centos` and one tha
