If you really wanted to contribute to the ecosystem you could have offered another vulnerability list to work against, work with upstream to deal with issues, and mirror the existing bits on GCR for your customers. --- edit add disclosure s

The upstream images are also validated from source to built image, and constantly scanned for vulnerabilities. At best such a comment is completely ignorant of the existing ecosystem.

Right, they are integral but the user doesn't interact with them and they can be swapped out for a different implementation and the user would never know outside of noticing the impact that the change has (or trade-offs such a change w

User namespace support for Docker has been in for years now, not just "recent versions". Not sure what you mean by "app builds" here. The container process is in a user namespace, not docker itself and "docker build

By the way, wasn't trying to suggest that you are new to go, just that I understand there is some tribal knowledge involved that make it difficult for new comers and people who don't spend much time working with the language.

Relative imports work, but keep in mind the import works based on package name. So "import ./foo", you must have a package called "foo" in "./foo" ---- Yes, it is easy to forget that we use vendoring

You can write `import "./util"` Also, it's really not that bad considering that go works (`go get` grabs git repo) with git repos. So you can go into your GOPATH (or vendor dir) and checkout your fork in place of the ori

Wouldn't it help them to purchase from Amazon today? If there are lots of orders but no one to fulfill it seems like that would be greater pressure on Amazon.

The main difference is the container is focused on an application and a VM is focused on a machine. Generally the patching problem can be solved with image scanning, of which there are tools out there to deal with this, both FLOSS and pay f

What are you defining as stable? Never changing? That's not something that should even hinted at. The fact that you can login to a VM and update a package does not make the system stable either (and of course you can actually do this w

Keep in mind before Apple maps, Google maps did not exist on iOS for turn-by-turn nav... once Apple released maps Google quickly followed suite with adding turn-by-turn nav to Google maps for iOS.

The same arguments were made back during the Microsoft anti-trust era. The fact is once a company reaches a certain size different rules do apply. Here Apple is definitely abusing their control over the ecosystem to lock out a competitor. T
