The "if done properly" is carrying a lot of weight there, though. Keeping on top of accessibility that way is a challenge in apps that are their companies' entire business, to say nothing of apps that are companions to a &quo

I think the "Thing" in Next Big Thing as this article uses it is rarely a business, more often a technology. WhatsApp has never been considered a toy, but IM as a medium has—WhatsApp's genesis as a valuable business is itself

They put a really strong emphasis on lowering the barrier to entry. While you're right that it still requires you to write code, so did the MySpace weirdness of olde. I think the difference is it allowed you to only write the code, a

They take a cut of in-app purchases/subscriptions as well, for apps distributed via the store. That's not to say there isn't likely a special deal in place, though.

A 4K 13-inch display feels like absurd overkill to me. Am I in the minority on that?

Thanks, I didn't know about that. Gary Hustwit is the same person that directed Helvetica, which is a classic design film IMO.

As mentioned in that issue and the linked one, subsetting makes a huge difference, and can be done yourself. As not mentioned there, you can even split the subsets by Unicode range and let browsers handle which chunks to download. Browser s

It's a very similar style with very similar objectives, so it's not entirely coincidence. It's also very similar to Google's Roboto for the same reasons.

Anecdotal, but I've found it happens when image scaling by a factor other than 2. Affects my setup of a 4K display at 2650x1440 effective resolution, or 1.5x scaling.

That's true, but the Galaxy S series has used AMOLED since it was introduced in 2010.[0] Looking in more detail my guess is it's not majority market share but it's definitely significant. [0]: https://en.wikipedia.
