Interesting! I guess it helped that phone calls were quite expensive, so people generally made very short calls. I haven’t really thought about this before but one of the main reasons for the pricing system could have been the facts that yo

What kind of solutions were employed in other cities? Does anyone know? Cities like London and New York etc must have had much more telephone lines.

Very interesting article. Didn’t know there’s so much research left to do when it comes to Lyme disease.

Indeed. AFAIK these kind of exits are not super-common for Swedish startups. I’ll echo what I wrote in another thread (about the Klarna IPO): Here’s hoping that a big chunk of that money gets re-invested in new startups and other exciting

There are some companies that are trying to get SMRs up and running. https://www.ans.org/news/2025-02-05/article-6744/new-swedish... We’ll see how it goes.

Haven’t seen much interest for Klarna here on HN which I find slightly surprising. Now the IPO is completed: https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/international-b... The rise of Klarna has been a bit controversi

In theory it could happen, but even so it would take years. There’s just so much C code out there. Stuff like Linux, Nginx, Apache, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, SQLite, QEMU, etc etc.

I think Atlassian is kind of trying to be the Lotus Notes of the 20s. If so, I can see why their upper management approved this acquisition. Will anything good come out of it…? I could be wrong, but I seriously doubt it.

Point taken. One option to avoid this could be to use the DNS-01 challenge to get a wildcard cert from Let’s Encrypt. Then CT will not expose your subdomains.

I kind of get your point, but think about what low barrier of entry for becoming a CA would imply. Also, there are loads of other requirements except this one and they are there for good reasons. It’s not easy to get your root certificate

I catch your drift, but the browser needs to treat all sites more or less the same. I’d say the easiest way out is to use the Caddy web server, which can take care of the certs all by itself.

Interesting research. I haven’t read the report super-carefully but I’m not sure I would say this vulnerability is very easy to exploit. Answer from 1Password can be found here: https://support.1password.com/kb/202508&#
