Something I never understood - Why didn't Stadia push slow games harder? Games like Civ VI or Simulator games would've more or less hidden the input lag. Instead they seemed to be pushing fast-twitch games in their marketing.

I agree. I think this is the sort of tool that is better off as an open platform on top of which others can build more specific pieces. In some sense, I think a lot of the advantages of programming languages being open apply here.

The limits of ML (as we know it) is still not fully known, so it's worth throwing a wide range of problems at it to see what sticks. I think that's why you see talk of ML everywhere, because people are still feeling out the space,
