This was actually pretty fascinating to me. On one hand, I am astonished at how long it takes to perform seemingly trivial git operations on repositories at this scale. On the other hand, I'm utterly mystified that a company like Facebook

I would definitely try it if for no other reason than the novelty. But I don't enjoy logging into facebook to check facebook... much less logging into facebook to check some other social networking site. Cool idea, though.

I'm not huge into email clients, but perhaps that's just because I never found one that offered me much that my web client does not. With that in mind, I sincerely wish you the best of luck and hope that you can change mind. Unrelated, the

I've seen a lot of people argue that sites like Hacker News shouldn't engage in a protest like this on the grounds that most of its audience probably already supports the protest's cause. I think this is a fundamentally flawed view about t

This isn't entirely accurate. GoDaddy has both auto-renewal and manual renewal. I'm not sure what the default is these days, but you can set your domains to manual renewal and let them expire. Be warned: you're going to get a ton of emai

It may not be common, but I don't think it is an unreasonable thing to expect. Think of a country such as the Democratic Republic of Congo -- I'm not entirely certain, but I'd imagine it is common for someone to simply start typing "Congo"

For the unenlightened (or perhaps just me), what do you mean by "have the black bar out"?

I don't think so. Buggy gestures or minor UI issues such as tiny touch zones are not the consequence of poor product design or direction; they're the consequence of having significantly large software in a very early stage of development.

How is this different than NowJS ( http://nowjs.com/ )? I don't mean to imply that two similar modules cannot exist; I am just curious if there is some fundamental difference between the two or if Racer is just a project that isn't as far

Not identifying this bug was the result of an (in my opinion) egregious human error. PHP has decent test coverage, and this issue does cause the current tests to fail. I really don't know how this was missed.

I don't have a strong opinion one way or another about this. On one hand, I am comfortable being able to get my software version number for pretty much any app in a convenient place. On the other hand, the thought that web apps (and perha

What is wrong with "It just works"? I have found that there are very few pieces of software out there (especially operating systems) that truly "just work" out of the box. Most software requires at least some setup, customization, and a p
