Perhaps no user avoided it (though that seems unlikely), but can't you imagine why some contributors may have avoided it? Wouldn't that lack of potential contributions be a material loss for the project?

How exactly are the groups of people working on various parts of the official ecosystem supposed to coordinate their efforts? The only alternative I've seen is a benevolent dictator, which seems significantly worse for a number of rea

I have this pattern. I play ukulele now, but I could only break over that hump because I first started when I was travelling for three months. Maybe take your guitar on vacation?

In my experience, getting the griddle to the perfect temperature requies overheating initially and the cooking a crappy pancake. No matter how many times I make pancakes (contribut to a new project) the first one always sucks. Also, don&#x

Generally the issue with the switches scattered about (or more generally, and concern about conditions scattered about the codebase) is that the body of each case is different. Of course if all the bodies are the same the easier option is a

This is called the Expression Problem because, as you allude to in your example, it comes up all the time in compilers and interpreters when dealing with expressions. If you're looking for an elegant solution (the first I've ever

Unfortunately we're terrible at prediction. The code you spent all night getting clever with gets rewritten next week, but the code you just threw together survives until the new platform, when it gets ported directly because nobody re

Speed isn't the reason I love Rust. It's: 1) the expressive type system, notably the use of optional type instead of null and the use of lifetimes to make reasoning about references tractable, and 2) the community, with a focus o

The author spills a lot of ink showing that they really didn't take any time at all to understand the problems they complain of. The title is clickbait, of course aync Rust works, and the article doesn't talk about it anyway. The

That doesn't ring true to me. My FFI experience is somewhat limited (JS to C, JS to C++ via C wrappers, Rust to C, Rust to C++ via C wrappers) but from what I've seen you have to speak C to make FFI.

Think of legal writing as an incredibly wordy programming language and it will make a lot more sense. Lawyers aren't reading this for fun, their brains are decoding how the computer (i.e. judges) will interpret it.

The critical difference is that an Option<T> is not a T, but a nil pointer is still a pointer. The stylistic difference is that the Rust type is semantic: your optional values are Options. The Go type is silly: why does being a pointe

Your points about codifying business process and integrations are spot-on. The developer experience is sadistic, but Lightning is the worst. It takes forever to load basic information because it all has to cycle through JS callbacks. Try o
