Oops, got below 0 for the first time. Sorry, I was joking a bit, didn't mean to be offensive. I didn't mean to offend python (this time). I think learning different languages helps the mind, and I try to experiment with at least 1 new langu

I think the point was that laws that are meant to protect some categories of people can end up hurting them more. Most people's instinctive reaction would be "let's add another anti-discrimination law". The post gives an example of how that

Haha, I was just thinking this rocks for Ruby and other upcoming languages. If people don't have new Python features to play with, they can spend the time learning new languages. I hope the proposal gets accepted, because I don't like pytho

That's because Ruby folks don't work on that as a community. We're all working on our pet projects, instead of helping get ruby1.9 into the popular OSes -- there's no one-click installer for Windows or OSX, and packages for various linux di

Great people and work environment, low pay and perks, not immigrant friendly. And they've been doing the iOffers for a long time now. I was an intern in 2006, and they looked just like that back then.

You should replace the colored water images on the left of each page with actual signatures. The colored water images are overly generic, and that's really disappointing coming from a business that claims to do visual design. Having signatu

The enterprise program lets you issue a provisioning profile that's not tied to UUIDs. Translation: you can have as many app users as you want. On the other hand... there's no easy way to charge. The provisioning profile is all that's neede

So... it's a cloud, but the database has to fit in one machine's RAM. Wow, Microsoft. Wow. Too bad. I was hoping they'd make a decent attempt at cloud hosting, so the Google App Engine sees some competition, and we get better pricing overal

I would argue that if your company has 50 people, you should already be budgeting for infrastructure, and the sudden jump in costs shouldn't take you by surprise. And $50/user/yr is still a hard-to-beat price if you're making good use of th

Releasing software into the public domain is tricky. I don't know a good way to do that, without running the risk that big company M will take the software, get a patent on it, and then sue me for writing my own software. Disclaimer: this i

It also looks like misaligned incentives to me. If ICANN is getting $25k / year per TLD... do they really want to notice? Won't they decide that they're better off waiting until there's a lawsuit? (that way they won't have to refund the 25k

I'm not sure $100/year is right... think experiments and personal domains. Plus it's an awful lot of money for people in other countries. It would be nice if ICANN or someone would shut down the big squatters though. Everyone knows what the

Ubuntu is already pretty fast on a Dell mini 910n & a Dell mini 10v. I believe they have a goal of 8-second boot times on netbooks in 2010. And they usually achieve their goals. I believe Google will pull this off, because it entails re

When you're on mobile devices, the game changes a bit. It's not just about running fast enough, it's also about not draining too much battery. Sure, netbooks last 4-8hrs nowadays... but I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be the case with 90% CPU

I think it's great that your framework is 100% tested. I hold my iPhone toolkit (ZergSupport) to the same standard. The part I wasn't happy about was that you need 8000 lines of tests for 3000 lines of code. Without having actually read you

I was looking for numbers, like the incorporation tax and state taxes for each type of company. If the data was neatly put together somewhere, we could all draw our own conclusions.
