iTerm2 has a setting to use GPU and it makes it consume tons of CPU. Turning it off has no apparent adverse effect.

It doesn't seem the high traffic settings would adversely affect low traffic instances, which is why these defaults smell so bad.

The worst part is that these problems only manifest under high load. Unless a team does performance testing (for long periods of time? in a highly-production-like environment), they might never know of many of these issues.

Nearly all of these are approximately "users did something they expected to work, but it didnt; shame on them" or "We chose a safe but mostly bad default, shame on users for not realizing it". I understand the rational f

I presume jdeploy is using its own code-signing to bootstrap the download and installation of other apps. Why not bootstrap a pkg?

This does indeed solve a significant burden. Relying on npm seems a bit awkward. I might suggest using native packages, especially on mac; something like a DMG or .package.

I was worried 16GB wouldn't be enough considering my Windows machine would crash with docker+chrome+IDEA due to out of memory errors; my m1 mac with 16GB has all that plus countless other apps and runs very well.

As cool as these things run, an over-the-air update that just lets it run a bit hotter could work surprisingly well, especially for devices with fans.

Over-sexualization is a bit different than legitimizing COVID denial and quack medicine and so are the consequences of each.

When the old DDP expires, you buy more. If it lasted longer, you would not buy more. Though it sure causes destress on their best customers. Quite the dilemma.

I was estimating off the speed it takes to pull images to my local computer where the limiting factor appears to be something other than my internet connection so either the image extraction process or a docker hub throttle.

Image pull size for a container is likely the concern. It could shave a few seconds off a regularly-run integration test. If it's run via on-demand build agents, then there's no image cache.

It would only take 34 more artists to have the same demand to make dropping Rogan worth it, which seems doable. I'm glad someone got the ball rolling; Hopefully others take it to the finish line.

Confirmed, no CYMK mode in painter. I'm extremely surprised; it's like the product's main selling point: reflecting real world media.

Without downloading and trying it out myself, I'm skeptical of the claim that Corel Painter doesn't mix colors correctly; this is one of their main selling points. I suspect they just left it in RGB mode instead of switching to CY

You saw correct, but user != human. User = email address. Two NASes, a bug tracker, a CI/CD server, printer, a catch all for either of two domains, it adds up. The combined disk usage is about 3GB, well under the limit for a single use

I find ~$1000 a year for just email accounts for three humans to be egregious (the non-humans are service accounts for things like NAS, printer, or TeamCity/Jenkins).

My retired mother and retired father are both considered "users" and so are my numerous service accounts. This will cost me almost a thousand dollars a year for three actual humans that use the service for nothing more than gmail.
