As others have pointed out, the monthly Who Is Hiring and Who Wants to be Hired threads are a good place to start. Since you probably don't have industry experience, I strongly suggest you build a good Github profile. Build your own so

This is great! I'm particularly excited by the prospect of bringing together the ecosystem of data science tools, with Cloud Haskell[0]. There's no reason the Haskell community can't have something like Dask or Ray, but with

That is a really tough spot to be in. I don't know of any content that's aimed at someone like you. You might be interested in reading the Monday Morning Haskell blog[0] series, which presents examples of how to do certain tasks i

I'm switching from VSCode as well. I love Helix's (and Kakoune's) editing model centered around selections rather than motions. I can see what I'll operate on interactively. I still use VSCode when navigating complex cod

Co-incidentally, I started learning neovim (via lazyvim) this week. I just gave Helix a try, and I think the selection and motion logic is much more natural to me. I might try to learn this instead of neovim for a while.

Delimited continuations have been implemented in the de-facto standard Haskell runtime system, the GHC runtime system [0]. The goal was to make effect systems more performant [1], but I believe that work has stalled due to the maintainer sh

Babel sounds awesome, I should give it a try. I've been using Pandoc for my static site, which I also used for my PhD thesis. I wrote pandoc-plot[0] to render figures in documents like the author does, inspired by Matplotlib's plo

I remember starting playing Minecraft Beta, that was around 2011 maybe? Even if tools to programmatically create maps were available, I wouldn't have known how to program. So this is more about my lack of knowledge of tools of the time

One of my fondest memories was buying the book "The Elements of Computing Systems" by Nisan and Schocken, and implementing a 4-bit CPU in Minecraft. 4-bit is small enough that you can build it manually, without the use of external

This was a great read. I find myself becoming the grumpy complainer as I age, but as the post says, the torture is mostly in my head. It's good to keep that in mind; I can't always control my environment, but I can always control

I guess it depends on the business. Can your client wait two years? At my work, my team of 5 was tasked with creating the beta version of a customer-facing app in 2 months, after which we launched and iterated as fast as possible. It was ba

I love the idea. RFD 1 mentions taking inspiration from Golang and Rust proposal processes. The Haskell Foundation also uses the same proposal process, and I love it. I'm a big proponent of the "writing is thinking" mantra. U

This paper is excellent for many reasons, but I want to emphasize how approachable it is. Anyone working as a developer can read this and get insights. This stands in s t a r k contrast to other disciplines (e. g. Physics) where papers

There's a niche out there where this kind of technology is appreciated. I can even appreciate the technical challenges in making an array language interpreter run fast! However, unfortunately, the notation is so terse that I can't
