Chris Dixon just spent 2 years investing in and hyping NFTs. AI is a legitimate innovation that can do without all of the “Web3” con artists driving any aspect of it. Source: https://cdixon.org

I notice that the python community seems to love workbooks/notebooks but I have to say as a non-python dev, they drive me up the wall. I just want to deal with “regular” code and not have an entire gui environment with code and text in

OpenAI’s models were a joke too, until they weren’t. It’s just a matter of time until the open source models catch up.

But the output of the LLM is trained on a synthesis of multiple inputs. Even if every input has information loss, new and novel combinations can be created. I imagine it’s the same for humans since we have lossy memory.

I vote with my feet. I don’t use Twitter anymore because of Musk and now I won’t use Reddit because of spez. Tbh, it feels great getting these sites out of my life.

Do you realize that what I said is completely valid and true? Managers: Do not discuss your ex-employee’s work in public. It’s risking their reputation and unprofessional.

It’s not whether you or I get value out of it. It’s unethical to talk about people you’ve managed publicly. Most managers won’t even get into details in a private reference check for liability and ethical reasons.

He doesn’t need to critique the market. He’s also wrong. MS is doing fine with dev tools (VS Code, GitHub…). Maybe this attitude is why Google has fallen so far behind in dev mindshare?

Who would you say is capturing the value created by this software, and how can we fix it so that value goes to the people who wrote the software? Not sure I have an answer but that shareholders and executives get the vast majority of the ga

If the work is not getting done, spying on people isn’t going to improve things. If you want people to work, you have to properly motivate them. That means fair wages and non-toxic management.

Elon Musk has been censoring things left and right, with and without excuse. This isn’t about some sneaky way to censor Twitter. Twitter is already censored, just not hate speech.

I quoted them twice because two (now three) people in this thread said the tweets weren’t that bad, so people should see for themselves exactly what these users are endorsing.
