I remember the days of contributing to pi-key for the PSP-1001's with an infra-red unit. That was my first experience with C before I knew what C was. It also was an excuse to finally just use linux instead of whacky cygwin.

Where can I learn more about back pressure? It isn't a set of terms that Google seems differentiate from spines.

I thought of that as well. Too bad it isn't a network with low latency.

Since traversing forward is always cheaper than backwards, we subtract our reverse numbers by a magic number for things we want to access in reverse order. Or in this case, dates where the most recent is first.

I am not making a joke. This stuff is from the 70-80s. Everything is a string unless it is numeric.

We have to do that in our database for numbers since zeros get truncated off the left side if it is detected as a number--and the number of zeros is important. I don't know about people doing stuff in file systems these days like that,

I would have suggested changing the link to the project site [1] instead of the download page since it has some sort of presentation that sort of details what it is about better, though it seems to be laggy or somewhat unresponsive--even th

I was not aware that cloudflare was hostile to tor users. I mean, I know they apparently bother my friend who uses a VPS with checking if he is human or not.

Huh.. I wonder if something like Cloudflare would offer something like this next? (Whether or not they might brute force vanity URLs is another matter)

I wish that subscription window happened near the end, not at the beginning when I'm reading the first paragraph--that's just distracting.

If they do the same thing as Hulu, which is to still show ads on content only available to subscribers, they might get the same backlash. Not like the viewers can make a serious movement against that though..

As someone that has used PostGIS on every city in the US to map to every county in the US over the last two centuries for genealogical mapping purposes, it would probably make it nicer. (Some of the results are already in the library of con

For example.. `Dim x, y as Long` results in only `y` being long. Internal functions like `InputBox` or string functions like `Left`,` Right`, `Trim`, `Mid`, and so on return variant not string. So you have to do a little extra there.

Verbosity is a real nuisance. Exceptions have odd flows, you have to use `On Error GoTo SomeHandlerInFunction`. For runtime efficiency you have to work against the system to make sure things are typed and not automatically casted to `Varian

Perhaps some of the bashing is to relieve frustration from work where we maintain a code base in a language we don't like. In my case.. that is VB 6. And I can say plenty of things about it.

But is that data that ends up in the lib*.so's? I can see that possibly optimizing within GCC (or LLVM if it supports it) but I have no clue for library shared/static objects.

The university I went to invested in skywalks to replace many if almost all cross walks within and on the edges of campus. It does require more energy to go up and down sometimes, but it means everyone is safer and everything still flows.
