What's the long term stable state for American health care? Given the difference between the rate at which healthcare costs grow and the rate at which wages grow, it will only take a couple decades before the former is larger than the

I'm white, I wouldn't leave if I was just waiting for a friend at Starbucks and was asked to leave. If the employee threatened to call the police, I would assume they're joking and ignore him or her afterwards.

If everyone followed your advice to start a startup, how would you find employees?

Is that uncommon (when referring to other people)? I can't think of anyone where I default to using only their last name.

As someone in this industry, I agree with this post 100%. There is absolutely no moral qualms about doing this -- take as much compensation as the industry can possibly bear and get out afterwards.

In what way is your comment different from 'No True Scotsman'?

People on HN panned the hell out of Juicero, and they were right on the money. I think HN comments are probably mean zero at predicting product trends.

What is a "yearly service review"? I've had a bank account for years without ever having to talk to anyone inside or from the bank.

He was talking about his parent's quality of life -- go watch sitcoms from the 90s for that. I'm not sure how the 50s are relevant.

I'm in the industry. Out of curiosity, which firms do you think do a good job of not treating back-office engineers as second-class citizens?

As someone who works (hard) in the part of finance you're describing, it's a mix of a few things. From a purely intellectual standpoint, it's a very hard, very interesting quantitative/modeling problem to solve (ie. pred

It's insane, borderline criminal. I knew someone who wanted to convert ~1m AUD -> USD -- and the banks were still trying to offer to do at 2-3% ! At that amount, you can open a brokerage account and trade through EBS or CNX direct
