Meta comment: does anyone know what software is used to generate these slides? I've seen a few slide decks in the same format and they're impossible to use on mobile. I'd like to fix that

No need to get the pitchforks out, this post is satire. The two quotes in the article aren't sourced. A quick Google search shows the last quote only appears in this blog [1]. [1]: https://www.google.com/search?q=The+vi

How is Flynn planning to handle longer lived services such as databases? Do I run the database separate and just use Flynn for app servers?

It's both. The code was completely rewritten, but the interface to the service stayed the same.

Really cool project, but I don't think it would speed up my tests, as none of them use time like the examples in the article. For example, If I need to test expiration in Redis, I would just mock out the call to redis to return an obje

A web-wide system isn't feasible. A websites respect for your privacy is an issue of trust and not something you can easily quantify. For example, DuckDuckGo promises not to track you (and I believe they don't) but proving this cl

I run a similar setup. OS X for Photoshop, gaming (don't laugh, Steam on OS X is passable) and day to day, and then do all my development in VMs using Vagrant.

One feature I miss from distributing on RubyGems or PyPI is easy update functionality. Thankfully, go-update[1] looks to solve the problem by making it easy to create self-updating Go binaries. [1]: https://github.com/incons

Create a known-good repository of third-party dependencies is so easy in Go. Change the $GOPATH, `go get` all the dependencies and add that folder to version control.

I had no idea that SIM cards executed code. I naively assumed they just contained hard-coded information, similar to a credit card. The fast that they execute Java applets blows my mind.

If the database just contains hashes of offending images, I don't see the harm. Similar databases exist for copyrighted movies, television shows, and music. Edit: The harm is combining such a database with broad internet surveillance.

A 2011 survey found that 80% of 18-24 males in the UK had watched porn online[1]. I'm comfortable assuming that a significant percentage of Tories have or do watch it as well. [1]: http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/129

These laws will not help. Outlawing content will not make it suddenly disappear, it will just be a bit harder to find. Any attempt to filter content will be circumvented. Australia's attempt failed miserably back in 2007[1]. I agree th
