Unfortunately I don't believe we'll be able to comment on the accuracy of this since the quotes from companies are private information, but I do love math like this :D (Community Advocate at GitLab)

Unfortunately I don't have deep knowledge of our infrastructure, so I can't answer all of these questions myself. That said, a decent chunk of this info can be found in the discussions on our Infrastructure issue tracker[1]. The l

I'd recommend reading some of the closed issues in that project as well, lots of interesting postmortems on downtime, increased load, etc. :) https://gitlab.com/gitlab-com/infrastructure/issues?scope=al...

I just want to note that the blog post you linked to was never actually published since we decided against pointing fingers when – by and large – the problems weren't their fault and their engineers were quite helpful. See the comment

Was your experience RE: Ceph/Gluster from Stack Overflow? I'd definitely be interested in hearing more about the specifics of that.

One person who has spent a lot of time looking at and thinking about this problem is Nadia Eghbal. She has a repository called "Lemonade Stand"[1], which is a resource that lists a number of ways to fund open source development, a

I was one of the people who first contributed to GitLab voluntarily, its been quite awesome :) Another great example of a company like this is Sentry[1], which is fully open source, although I'm not sure if they've hired anyone fr

It's really awesome to have an open source option for error tracking, we use it at GitLab and its been great. Kudos to the Sentry team, and thanks for entertaining my conversations on twitter every once-in-a-while :)

They hired the guy developing Package Control and I believe they're working on integrating it into Sublime, just a matter of time.

I really, really wish it was open source. I understand why it isn't, but with its main competitors being Atom and VSCode, it's hard to warrant using a closed source text editor even if it's so much faster and I'm used to

Wikis do exist, and you can always have a `docs` directory and then use GitLab CI to package the docs up and/or deploy that directory as a static site. We have this issue which I'm fairly fond of, though I'm not sure we'

If you could chime in on one of those threads with your use-case and a mention of the VLC project it may help get the ball rolling a bit faster :) Even better if you have examples of useful fields you've used!

I get 5.5s now when I re-run it (probably due to caching). We've been working incredibly hard to make it faster, we have to use it everyday, so we know exactly how annoying the lack of speed can be. For example, take a look at the drop
