If the leds are addressable yeah that would be cool. You could even consider the weather outside, and when it’s a fine day have the “sky leds” cast blue and bright, and if it’s cloudy have them a more uniform grey.

Yes but that’s not a good argument against buying them now, instead it’s an argument in favour of setting up a replenishment programme for some fraction of the reserve every year after some initial delay.

Now my mind is wondering if insects could be a source and transmitter of prion diseases. Perhaps the proteins in bugs don’t line up with humans though.

Technology Connections did a really interesting video showing how a traditional clock face can give a different perspective on the flow of time through the day, as the face and hand let you easily judge the remaining fraction in an hour. I

Isn’t that the same justification for Shitake vs Shiitake? In Japanese it would be kanji or occasionally hiragana, some transliterations will be imperfect, and so long as the authors intent is clear, to me that’s all that matters

To me it just sounds bad, like he’s coming in over a poor cellphone connection. If I was in a call I’d find that I’d have to put some effort in to listen.

Does the same criticism apply equally to GitHub’s pull requests? I feel like they are essentially the same thing layered on top of a repo, gitlab even supports merge requests across forks.

I don’t think that’s a logical reading. The point is that being raped shouldn’t have made her more likely to be caught. I think this is a fair stance to take, as DNA from rape kits being used for future tracking of the raped is going to dis

I agree. Not because I’d ever hope to meet them in my lifetime, but I could know that our people could reach those same heights, and in small ways, each of us can be part of that story.

For monitoring I’d also say the alerting side of things can be done via the older monolith. That is, catch exceptions and log/re-raise them as “PdfServiceException”.

The use of git to track timeseries data is pretty neat. I have one private git repo which a machine will periodically update with it's public IP. Here is a group that tracks public data sources in git: https://github.com
