Got rid of Ubiquiti and the breach was just a footprint. Personally I'm really happy with Mikrotik. I do not recommend it if networking is not your thing and you just want some plug and play. So far I love it, wifi performance is bette

So many lessons in this article. When your service goes down but eventually gets back up, it's not an outage. It's "elevated latency". Of a few hours, maybe days.

OK, but this is programmer to manager explanation. I get how computers work. I know simple things can get very complex at scale. I just thought that the huge extra you pay for cloud services is mostly for battle tested solutions for these s

Can you elaborate? E.g. postgres replication is pretty straightforward and not a new technology. I'm outside AWS ecosystem and with just dedicated boxes having some DC burn down is manageable. How do magic clouds make that hard?

I tried OVH a few times and ran away every time. Currently have 10+ dedicated boxes at Hetzner and I'm taking time to write this comment because I like them that much. I only contacted support a few times during my 10+ years there but

I'm fairly confident that those agencies use context in an automated manner to get any meaningful results. So "keyword" (could be a word, domain or some other pattern) X may trigger only if Y and Z was already triggered. And

Why not use generators like most data centers in case of power failure? Is energy usage that much higher?

I examined mine carefully after reading your comments and.. did you buy it directly from HHKB? Maybe you have some counterfeit? But you may be right, I'm not such a keyboard aficionado, I only had a few mechanical keyboards and maybe m

My HHKB Hybrid Type-S is definitely less noisy than MX-Brown (at least in WASD keyboards edition). It may be more silent than my typing on macbook air, but it's hard to compare because it produces lower frequencies, definitely nicer so

I have kids, and I also definitely agree that it's better if lead is not in there at all. The whole lead in gasoline story is ridiculous and traumatizing. I'm just not sold on the idea of testing/researching products and gett
