Genuine question/request: how do you stay informed about the world? I agree with you but I still want to know what’s going on and I find it very difficult.

I’ve been thinking something along these lines as well. For years, whenever a conservative was banned from twitter, everyone would smugly say “it’s just a private company bro, why do you care so much?” And they were right in a way - it is

It’s pretty funny that people think those journos/activists would even touch the fediverse after they indirectly turned it into twitter for people they got kicked off twitter.

I don’t use twitter, so I don’t really care about what happens to it. I stopped using it years ago because it was an awful experience and I don’t know how anyone can enjoy it. But I’ve been wondering: why is everyone leaving? Is everyone

Here is how almost every conversation I've had with non-tech people about using any alternative web platform. me: have you ever tried X? it's an alternative for Y them: isn't that for racists or drug dealers or something?

I agree with you, but I think that when we are talking about extremely wealthy people, it changes things. An oil heiress knows people in the oil industry. A kennedy knows people in politics. These people paying randos to throw soup and glue

This is what drives me absolutely nuts whenever I read about current events. Pfizer had to pay the largest fine in US history for a fraud case, yet questioning their data (which we weren't allowed to see until they were sued) is forbid
