These are incredible. I'm especially impressed with how high res the scans are. Time for some new office posters!

Looks really cool. Too bad it’s not out in time for christmas. The thing would sell like crazy this year. What I find most notable in the video is their nod to competitive-gaming / esports, which Nintendo has such a long history of shu

Indeed. The main reason they weren't replaced sooner was because parameterizing subdiv and poly surfaces for texturing was historically a pain in the neck, whereas NURBS was essentially free. New techniques like PTex and better UV mapp

Amazing. Thanks for sharing. Also, +1 on Daniel Tiger's neighborhood. One of the few shows my 2.5 year old is allowed to watch, since the vast majority of them are trying to sell something, or promote disturbing body image messages, et

When Google Reader was in its heyday, I remember thinking the futuristic promise of the web from the early 90s had finally arrived. I so miss it. So much effort is put into unique "platforms" nowadays — I get why Reader (and by ex

Agreed. Plus, even if it is decided to modernize any of these systems, we would likely have to run an old system with the new one in parallel for quite some time to ensure a properly smooth transition. Air traffic control is an example of w

This is such an interesting article to me because it describes a time when a fundamentally unique paradigm of computer science was in it's nascent form. It makes me wonder, were people aware of the watershed nature of their work at the

I found Rdio to be the best of all possible options. It still is disappointing to me that 1) Apple didn't buy Rdio and 2) Pandora still has done nothing with the IP they got out of the deal. Rdio had some really creative curation fea

This. One of the things that saddens me most about this deal is that there are likely many talented artists and engineers down in Glendale who will be let go as a result of this consolidation. I would love to be proven wrong, but that is my

Where would silicon valley, and the world in general, be without DARPA? Not that I am trying to support any big brother agenda, but it's hard to deny that your smartphone and computer owe at least some part of their existence to effort
