Streams are kinda cool but they have a distinctly different feel than the other data-types in Redis. They've got this invisible statefulness. Last ids, consumer group state, etc. I've tried implementing a couple little things with

This is what existential terror looks like. In the face of something incomprehensible and impersonal, OP decides to spend a while rearranging the deck chairs. Nothing has changed, but perhaps OP felt a little better about himself for a whil

So some guy realizes that the vast resources and top-down direction available at large corporations don't translate to a huge open-source project (which itself is compromised of tons of open-source projects)? And it took him 10 years t

I'm reminded that it's possible to be quietly weird and brilliant, in the world that moves on in ignorance of the latest JavaScript shit, kubernetes shit, database shit, ... Thanks for sharing!

I sometimes think about Andrei and Pierre, such opposites and yet best friends. The way their fortunes seem to move in counterpoint. I've often preferred Andrei to the dreamy, idealistic Pierre, but on my most recent reading I think I

I don't know...turn on subpixel with slight hinting, disable autohinter, enable lcdfilter and the result is pretty damn good. For monospace truetype fonts I use grayscale instead of subpixel, which I think is cleaner in the terminal...

Narcissism of small differences. Pointless blogspam. Also, Neovim is much closer to visual studio than it is to something like nano or whatever.

Can't tell if this is fud or not. For example with node, typically you'd only be exposing port 80, right? So as long as your http server isn't vulnerable you're ok. Or same with Redis, which I hope isn't anywhere ne

I love Redis, but I'm a bit skeptical of some of the changes that are currently in development. The respv3 protocol has some features that, while they sound neat, also could significantly complicate client library code. There's al

Yeah I had to learn this lesson, and I think I will continue to find my ego cropping up in strange places, and again practice letting go. My ego drove me to work extra hard to try and impress others. I would become petulant if I didn't

My experience with having my code reviewed was overwhelming positive, if frustrating at times. There was one reviewer in particular who had a way of asking just the right questions to point the way to a better approach. It also changed the

Easier to version your configs if they're all in one place. Easier to find a config file, less guess-work. Generally helps keep the home directory tidy of cruft. Not a huge deal, obviously, but programs should be well-behaved programs.
