I think this is an interesting, but unsurprising shift in American celebrity support of China in the service of their own career and finances, but also in the growing influence the Chinese market has on American entertainers.

Speaking of Urbit, I had/have a relatively old "ship" I got long long ago, what can I even do with it? How do I get it up and running? I think they transitioned to Ethereum, but what does that mean? lol, it's so confusin

Yep. I just don’t think it’s likely to cause a global meltdown, lots of localized annoying failures. Maybe a few really bad spots.

My comment should have made more clear that I’ve heard all of this a lot over the past two years.

I love this project but I’m tired of hearing about it until the next story is that I can buy it.

I may be generally optimistic because I grew up in a place that regularly (once every few years) was without power for more than a week at a time and it wasn’t that bad as long as you were even barely prepared. I guess I believe we can patc

Haven’t done anything to back this up, but I suspect buildings and cars are extra shielding for the bulk of what we need to avoid absolute meltdown. I also suspect modern manufacturing tolerances in general are better than needed and most F

Yep, total brain fart. I totally read terrorism. That definitely changes the discussion since were using a different word.

What if your military systems have been compromised and the UAV is the thing that compromised them?

by codezero 5y ago
Why? Isn't terrorism already well defined? What's changing here?

What's the license on this PDF? It doesn't look like a free book.

I'm published in the field of solar physics, though I dropped out of getting a PhD. I specialized in space weather modeling, and the solar wind specifically, and studied a lot of larger flares that were Earth directed. I also dealt wit

I love the curiosity/hacking of the early days of computing, hooking up your registers to an audio amplifier? sure! """ This is a display hack (that is, it makes pretty patterns) with the low 9 bits = Y and the 9 next h

Can you do this with an xor and popcount? I suppose that's what the author is implying when they say the compiler takes care of this.

I know more than one person with a chicken coup. Mine only have hens but they contact friends when they need a rooster to visit and fertilize :)

I’m looking for a way to send these people my money, so you’re wrong. Edit: Just realized I’m 40 so probably qualify as old to most people, so that doesn’t necessarily prove you wrong.

Thanks for sharing that - I am always curious about 3d printing, and a cheap printer sounds like a nice entry point, even nicer to know this one has a few growth options!

The thing that surprised me so much about this one was that they managed to steal RPGs from military bases to attack their foes. That's absolutely insane.

I agree with everything you said, and at the same time, holding those beliefs early in my career held me back immensely. I regret not befriending those strange folks and getting some of that delusional energy, it's useful sometimes, an

I love my PocketCHIP - but I wouldn't go with that form factor again - or at the very least, not with the type of physical keyboard they included. It was very unwieldy and generally not fun to use, I always connected an external keyboa

What problems are you having with coordination right now, and what have you already tried? Have you surveyed your team to see what ways they would most like to keep in the loop/receive training? I've used a lot of tools, but I hav
