But the PRC has been in control of China for 60 years and has more than a tiny island. While the PRC used to be a rebellion, that was a long time ago.

While universal healthcare is a noble goal, I have a feeling that insurance reform will not stop costs from going out of control. Rising healthcare costs is because of the artificially limited supply by the AMA limiting the number of MDs th

Nimrod's GC is perfect for real-time software like games. It uses a deferred reference counting algorithm which can have pause times as small as 1ms. How does Nimrod deal with the multi-thread reference counting performance problem?

I don't see this as an HN clone. If anything is a clone, HN is a clone of Slashdot->Digg->Reddit. Not that I think any of these sites have an exclusive claim to a threaded discussion board.

I just installed 4.3 and tried running a directx9 program on XP with 3d acceleration and it caused the VM screen to flicker and not display any content. I hope Vbox will catch up with VMware player on 3d acceleration soon.

If you are targeting people who don't want to configure anything why are you using markdown? I would have expected you to use something like TinyMCE. Markdown is like coding for non-programmers.

You prefer 50/50 but you have no evidence to even suggest that this is the "best" distribution for CS let alone any other major. Why can't you accept the possibility that females do not like CS as much as males do not li

I already repeated multiple times what claim I find ordinary: that Mudd is somehow able to retain so many female CS majors simply by accepting more. It is up to you to prove that they are able to do this otherwise. > You made an argument

I don't know why you assume that 50/50 is the desired ratio when acceptance is supposed to be self-selected and merit based. This CS professor from MIT explains why fewer females choose engineering studies like CS. http:/&#x

I never brought up the argument that males are smarter than females. Why wouldn't you consider the possibility that most females don't want to sit in front of a screen all day with minimal social interaction often working 70 hour

I don't follow this argument. You are suggesting that the rate of females leaving the major/school is exactly proportional to the grade they get. I don't believe anyone would quit a school/major because they scored a lit

But how do you know that a 50/50 balance is even natural in engineering fields like CS? Why isn't there a 50/50 balance and other similar initiatives for males for female dominated subjects like nursing and education?

Citation needed. It is much more plausible that these engineering colleges have laxer requirements for females in order to get a 50/50 gender balance rather than public school discrimination.

If there is a modifier with a variable number like ?,+,* you could just repeat it X times. For example if it is ? repeat 1 time, + repeat 2, * repeat 3 etc... If it is |, choose the first or choose randomly.

Minecraft isn't exactly a very demanding game. Also 10 years ago Java was nowhere near as fast as it is now. If you are saying that Javascript might be an option 10 years from now, I am not disagreeing with you.
