That is actually a common fallacy. If you know what you are talking about, it is still in your interest to let everyone else know after you have purchased shares so that your shares will rise faster and higher. Just because you are confiden

Last time I checked Io was slow and it didn't solve any new problems. If I wanted a slow OO language, I would rather keep using ruby/python as I already know them. Haxe has the small niche of flash type games, and I think it is do

I find ublock breaks many more websites than ABP. I usually wouldn't notice a broken website with ABP, but with ublock I see something wrong at least once a week.

Sorry but I'm not willing to make a public enemy out of any of these projects just to prove a point.

I find that most mature projects are incredibly hesitant to accept patches. I have found critical bugs in some projects and the people with repo access let the pull request sit there for a year or more.

That's interesting. You should advertise that. For anyone else wondering, it is actually spelled Incapsula, I would edit my original comment if I could anymore.

Go actually has large line counts closer to Java and C due to lack of generics and exceptions, and the need to specify structs. http://benchmarksgame.alioth.debian.org/u64q/compare.php?lan... http://benchmar

Err, because MPEG-LA and the other patent holders that didn't join knows that Fabrice Bellard didn't license the patent from them, so you used an unlicensed encoder . If you stick that poly-fill on your website they can also sue

I think the big question is whether people can put BPG pictures online without getting sued. edit Why am I being downvoted for saying this? Do the people downvoting me realize that BPG is using HEVC which is patented by many entities?

It looks like it is using linear search. I'm surprised no one has made one based on a state machine.

I'm wondering why I'm being downvoted for a factual statement. The parent of this comment said "without worrying about dependencies, dynamic linking, or segfaults". This is blatantly wrong. Pretty sad what HN has become.

But you can get that in C++ if you really wanted to as well. I just wanted to point out that not having to worry about segfaults is clearly wrong. Go doesn't really take any steps from preventing pointers from being null or forcing you

You can still get segfaults in Go. "panic: runtime error: invalid memory address or nil pointer dereference"

And because everything is statically compiled, go binaries tend to be very large. Imagine each binary being 5 mb on average and multiply that by 100.

I absolutely agree with this. Having end clutters up the screen. Many people dislike python whitespace though but I think brackets are still better than end.

I don't think you have any clue what you are talking about. First of all, you are comparing apples to oranges. Commit to a single DC is not the same thing as metered bandwidth to thousands of customers. - Running fiber to a DC is way e

The parent comment was talking about comparing Comcast retail prices to AWS retail prices. The story is talking about Xfinity retail plans. It doesn't make sense to compare retail prices to wholesale prices. If an average coder can

HE is at the cheap end and I don't think most people are going to colo so they can buy transit, if their colo will even let them. Not to mention that bringing bandwidth to a DC is way cheaper than bringing it to individual homes.

If you are in doubt, just submit the request and will let you know if it can be done or not. It sounds like they are manually writing scrapers for each request.
