php based web apps are not 1 apt-get away either. I don't know how many times I tried to run a php web app just to find out a random php5-* extension was missing, and then having to guess which one.

It is still possible but it is very difficult. Google will show results by changing the ranks a little bit for random people to see which one has better CTR but mostly they are unchanged. It also probably knows that you would prefer your es

I remember a time when it was actually possible to rank on the top 3 by writing quality content on your own blog. But then I remember Google giving "trusted" domains such as digg and reddit extra weight and it was quite depressing

Before I thought it should be obvious that the stock market would go up when rates drop, and vice versa. But I remember one day about 1-2 months ago, the market plunged after the Feds said they might hold off on raising the rates and there

No it would help because instead of giving up on tracing the attacks since the source address was spoofed, you would know who was spamming packets and get them black holed.

I think most people have a reasonable expectation that when you release apis, you are setting up a long term relationship with developers and not to be ended on a whim. These people risked time and money to develop on your platform, and usu

I don't see how this is genius. Having hosts not know the contents they perform services for has been desired for a very long time. Research on homomorphic encryption predates mega by quite a while. And I am sure there must be backup s

Isn't he being paid by YC though? And there are frequently special hiring threads for YC companies. Anyway there's a very thin line between spam and not spam, and is generally based on whatever people want to see at the time.

You can easily obfuscate your email to web crawlers by generating the email text and link through javascript. This is what many people like Cloudflare do.

Cloudflare also protects websites that provide denial of service attacks. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10194724 At the very least, they should be revealing the IPs of these websites.

It is becoming clear to me that you aren't even bothering to read what I wrote. So this is going to be my last reply. Generics are extremely easy, cheap, and fast to pass approval. Needing a minimal amount of time to check that your dr

I don't think you or ken47 have more than a layman's understanding of the subject. Daraprim is a brand name. Pyrimethamine is the active ingredient. When you create a generic, it must be checked that it is roughly equivalent to th

The reading of free market theory with which most people, including its founder, would agree, is one where the goal is to maximize utility, not wealth. This is a vitally important distinction, and one that the layperson often overlooks.
