Go makes you depend on the source code of a library you're depending on, not any build result. Because Go by default does not generate shared libraries to ship, they work around this by having every user of a library recompile it into

Several people have suggested similar. I should do it, but the nice part of OSS: I can do it whenever it bothers me enough :) Do you have a config posted anywhere? I'd love to see exactly how hard it would be to switch.

Proprietary tools just aren't worth the turnover for me. It's untenable to depend on developer tools that a company owns. I love free software, but in all honesty the reason I incorporate it is more selfish. My workstation is excl

The join the beta button isn't working? I click and nothing happens. I looked at the page source, but then I realized I don't know how the fuck javascript works.

"Fear of uselessness" seems to be a euphemism for the fear of dying, both the process and the ending. I'm not sure there is a great answer here, so I'm just going to post the Alan Watts talk that brings some perspective

If there is no action, then why even "bear it in mind"? Seems like you do think there is some preparatory action to take.

What actions do I take as someone outside of China by a hemisphere or so? Reading this just blows my mind. I've gotten my family and a few friends on Signal[0], but these types of things only help if you have basic access to the Intern

They have an Intel Atom addon module thingie, but the CPU can only really run 2x4Gb best case, almost all of these will need separate software running on Xeons.

Intel Atom is an odd choice, but liking the ethernet choice. Gonna look more into how they lay the disks out. I wonder what the serviceability of the drives is.

Surprised at the layout of the drives. Would make it a huge pain to actually replace failing disks - but I like that they put a decent Xeon on there. The connectivity to the drives is really quite bad, but now I'm just being picky. Tha

What order of magnitude? There are 60 drive chassis in 4U you can get[0][1], but even a 4TB -> 6TB drive + 15 more drives isn't exactly an order of magnitude. And they have 2 10GiB ports, though I'm sure you can work with them

All passwords should not be memorable. Once you see them as tokens that 3rd parties will probably lose, then you know our efforts should be in secure token management software (keepass, lastpass, 1password, etc).
