I had the most fun taking pictures with a cheap, low-quality camera that I only owned for a few months before it died. This one might fit the bill nicely. The skill or unknowns of the viewfinder might be part of the charm. I want one, but t

I just skimmed and read parts but I really enjoyed reading this. It's like my own handwritten notes which are just stray thoughts about a subject. Maybe I should publish more of those and I love the idea of just musing about a single t

This sounds like an interesting path. Wish I had time (instead of reading endless prompts and getting fatigued).

As an aside… I wonder why “80 mph” was picked as an arbitrary value. In rural areas of Utah we have 80 mph posted limits and prima facie speed laws. A lot of Utah drivers regularly exceed 80 MPH and I’d argue they do so legally. It’s just a

I have a TRS-80 that still ran last time I tried. It used audio cassette tapes for storage, but I don't have one, so I built a cable to use a modern voice recorder to read and store data on. I've been wanting to build some kind of

I agree with the learning aspect, but I have another motivation. I suspect that closed models might become too expensive to run for personal hobbyist use. I’ve been planning to buy a 64GB machine just to allow the limited local models this

Many of these, from the mid 1800’s, would have been printed on a press with metal letters. A modern open font that might match the style is Old Standard TT. https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Old%2BStandard%2BTT I was c

The Studio I looked at yesterday jumped from $2600 to $3400 (30%). I was saving for it and was about 1/2 way there. I was expecting these increases in 2027, so planned to buy late in the year. Apple moved faster than I expected after t

Yeah, I hate the remote, which is why I never use Apple TV even though I both own one and have the Apple TV service. Maybe I'll try the remote the other user here mentioned.

I'm running an M3 on an Air with just 16GB. I can still get useful results without an internet connection in "chat mode". It's a different experience than using Claude, for sure, but it's workable. I typically use t

Plus $15k to move them for new shingles when the time comes, if they’re on shingles. I wonder why we don’t use them to build shade structures instead.

A contractor showed me how to fix dents in granite with superglue. It’s totally clear. The trick is to scrape it with a razor blade at a 90 degree angle (strait horizontal). The imperfections become nearly invisible.
