Off topic, but I notice FreeDOS still uses email mailing lists. What email mailing list software / platforms are people using these days? Can you get mail delivered if you install an OSS mailing list and stand up your own server (vps o

I liked the idea of this but it won't work for me in practice. A down-side of periods is that you can't use them in an `alias`. Since that is how I configure a lot of these commands the period is probably not an option I can use c

I’m not sure how to figure out if there’s a profitable market I can tap with the thing I want to make. As an example, I created a modified level so that my wife could set tumblers up for full wrap laser engraving. I’ve been trying to figure

I like the idea of using periods for collections of commands. I have a todo list hacked together with shell scripts and I've been thinking about how I might want to stay away from collisions. I think I'll use do.thing style comman

So much nostalgia! I miss the used book stores and the shareware racks of floppies (which I think another user mentioned).

Thanks for sharing. The app functions really well and is beautiful. It took me quite a while to figure out what it does and I'm still not 100% sure I understand completely. Is the app profitable? How do people find out about it?

You should consider HTTP Basic Auth. It’s a quick path to “good enough” and you can iterate to something better later. You can read more about why I started using it for my side projects on my blog post below. https://joeldare.co

I cut my teeth on POV-Ray. It hasn't been updated in some time but being able to code scenes has a lot of advantages. For product design I use OpenSCAD. Maybe POV-Ray made this style of design popular. A couple weeks ago I decided to u

Did you forget a /s tag? I feel like the penalties are so small for the big companies that they just become small expense lines that need to be passed on to the consumers (airlines in this case).

I was surprised to see that company is still around. I used to love their cameras because of their limitations. Unless I’m mixing them up with a similarly named company.

I created Ponder, which does something similar. Mine was inspired by the Alpha Smart, so it has 10 “files” and it saves to local storage, so it might not be loss proof, but I use it as a scratch pad and it works quite well. https:/&#x
