It is true that GoChat doesn't need to be that expensive to maintain and his analysis is pretty much correct (I've maintained something that had similar amount of traffic, similar dynamics, and didn't cost me arms and legs at

You would be right if the narrative was "It was super hard, it was unfair, but I worked my ass off and I succeeded regardless." But that's not the case. The narrative is "There are less women in tech. The companies shoul

I don't think the founder of Zipcar or VMWare got to their success by going to conferences and talking about "women in tech". They built stuff that people want. Period.

I agree with you in theory, but from experience it is extremely hard to achieve when you're actually in that position. Unlike what you say, it does take much longer to write great code when you're trying new things every day. Ev

My personal opinion: They failed because they launched big and didn't let people use it. I remember first signing up for beta, waiting, waiting, and waiting, and never getting an invite. I even tweeted at them but never got a response.

What you say is indeed important, but I wouldn't say the work before that is not "real work". It's just different types of work. Ask any successful startup founder what their initial codebase was like and they would say-
