If they had implemented DRM for multiplayer access to the server, they would not have failed. Attempting to contact a server and being told 'No' isn't the same as having a connected player. I'm talking Steamworks-style DRM here, which is

They had server infrastructure for an estimated 50,000 players. 18,000 players bought the game and were trying to play. Over 5x that number in pirates logged in, and because they didn't use any multiplayer authentication (accounts or some

Anecdotal evidence aside, here is some actual evidence of a company getting screwed by having a DRM free offering. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2009/04/demigod-hit-by-massive... IMHO, DRM causes there to be a delay (provided the game is

I think it also had something to do with age - newer vessels (submarines, at least) use a large lead acid battery array for emergency power when needed... and by emergency power, I mean enough power to start the emergency diesel generator.

It seems purpose built to garner upvotes from many of those who frequent HN - insults the American right wing while praising European level-headedness and rationalism. Add in a final parting shot at American stereotypes and I'm not surpris

Sorry, but the naive one here is you - a bunch of pirates telling a bunch of other pirates about this awesome new thing they should pirate doesn't really help you, the creator. But by all means, rationalize away. Also, why does the one who

You've clearly never been here. Dixie flags are not actually common - the Texas flag is flown everywhere . Also, the use of the term 'Confederate' in the CAF originally had nothing at all to do with the U.S. Civil War, and later became a
